OWH Sketch Challenge # 192

Happy Sketch Sunday everyone! Here is today's Operation Write Home Sketch:

You can find details about the challenge here:

And here is my entry:

I did have to flip the sentiment oval to the opposite side when I found the ribbon would be covered if I kept it on the left.

I used Recollections papers mostly with a little white Bazzil.  The sentiment is from a Fiskars set called "Laugh With Me Quotes." I added a little stitching around the edges and used Cricut's Elegant Edges Cartridge to cut out the scalloped oval.

Thank you for stopping by!

OWH Sketch Challenge # 191

Hello everyone! Today's sketch challenge for Operation Write Home is to use this sketch:

You can find the details about the challenge here:

Here is my card:

The papers were all from my scrap pile, the sentiment is from Penny Black, and the tassels were hand made using an Omega variegated thread. Everything was layered on black card stock and I did a little hand-stitching on it (using the same Omega thread.)  The tassels are a bit bulkier than I usually use for Operation Write Home, so I added dimensional adhesive tape behind the sentiment to make the
tassels not stick out so much.

Thank you for stopping by!

Saturated Canary Challenge #52

Hello everyone! I made this card as part of Saturated Canary's Challenge #52. You can find details about the challenge here:

The challenge was to create a card using a Saturated Canary image or rubber stamp in the "Shabby Chic" style. I am not sure if this is totally shabby chic or not.

I used Saturated Canary's "Orchard Love" and you can purchase her here:

I colored "Orchard Love" with Spectrum Noir Markers and added a tiny bit of Glossy Accents
to her eyes.

I used several papers from My Minds Eye and I distressed all of them using Craftsmart Ink in Chocolate Brown. I cut scalloped ovals using Cricut's Elegant Edges cartridge and distressed them as well.  The buttons were created with an EK Success Button Punch and were stitched on using a little DMC thread.  I put each button on a tiny bit of dimensional adhesive tape to make them pop.

The sentiment was created using a little $1 Alphabet Rubber Stamp Set from Michaels. I cut a bunch of little squares, stamped a letter on each square, distressed the edges of all of them, and then arranged them in a little line on the card.

I added a little May Arts ribbon ("Crochet Trim" I believe) and added pearls.

Thank you for stopping by!

Sketch Challenge #190 OWH

Happy Sunday everyone! Today is Sketch Challenge #190 for Operation Write Home.  Here is the sketch:

You can find details about the challenge here:

I have been trying to use this rubber stamp set from Stampers Best called "Write Soon Minnow" more often since the OWH/Stampers Best Blog Hop.  I had colored up the fish last night using Spectrum Noir OR1, CT3, & GB3 but I had to flip the sketch to get everything to fit. I also fussy cut the fish and popped him on a little dimensional tape (though I can not really see it in the photo.)

If I had used a light colored background paper (rather than the royal blue gingham) I could have stamped the "let minnow how you are" sentiment directly onto the background paper and everything would have fit just fine.  But I wanted to use the gingham.  And I could only have one element on the upper left (rather than two like the sketch.) Two things there would have been too busy I think.  I also was thinking if I did a mirror image of the fish (flipped him to face the other direction), I could have added another bubble to the "Write Soon" sentiment bubble to make it look more like air bubbles.

Other details on this card.....I used Fun Stampers Journey's "Basket Weave" rubber stamp on the orange paper, a little white pen on the edges to make the faux stitching, a little white ribbon, and a couple of sparkly stickers.

You can find the "Write Soon Minnow" rubber stamp here:

and the Fun Stampers Journey "Basket Weave" stamp here:

The papers are all from Recollections at Michaels.

Sketch Challenge # 189 OWH

Happy Sunday Sketch Challenge everyone!

Today's card is for the Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge # 189 and you can find details about it here:

I used Stampers Best Cherry Background Stamp and colored it up with Spectrum Noir CR11 and JG1. I used red and green card stock for the layers and the flags.   I used Martha Stewart's "Arch Lattice" border punch and the sentiment is from Stampabilities.  I added a little red grosgrain ribbon and a row of hand stitching to add a little more detail.

***BELOW IS A PICTURE OF WHAT DOES NOT WORK...
My first attempt looked too busy. I had used polka dot papers for the flags and it just was not right.  I am posting the picture just to remind myself to not go crazy with patterned papers.

Are your eyes ok?  See what I mean about it being too busy?

 Lesson learned.
